   Both files are VARIABLE fonts carrying the whole wght axis, 100 to 900,
   despite what the "400" in their names suggests. That name cost an hour
   once: it reads like a single static weight, so the previous version of
   this file declared 400 and 500 as separate @font-face rules pointing at
   the same file, and it is an easy mistake to go looking for a bold file
   that does not need to exist.

   One rule per subset with a weight *range* is all it takes. Every weight
   between 100 and 900 is now real - no synthetic bold anywhere.

   Self-hosted rather than pulled from Google Fonts so no visitor IP address
   is sent to a third party. The privacy policy relies on this.
